General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Ugandan Chief of Defense Forces and son of President Yoweri Museveni, is in the capital of Rwanda Kigali.
As mentioned by The Independent, Kainerugaba has posted on X in the past two weeks, “When I’m in Kigali, I will also sign a Defense Pact between Uganda and Rwanda.
Anyone who attacks any of our countries will have declared war on both countries.”
Kainerugaba’s visit comes on the heels of a cross-border security meeting between Uganda and Rwanda in Mbarara, Uganda on February 27, 2025, to strengthen security cooperation and to facilitate movement of goods between the two neighbors.
Kainerugaba’s Kigali visit occurs after the capture of the capitals of North Kivu and South Kivu provinces Goma and Bukavu by the M23 terrorists and Rwanda Defense Force in January and February, resulting in summary executions, rapes, and forced conscription.
According to 7 Sur 7, soldiers from the Uganda Defense Force deployed to Mahagi, the capital of the territory in eastern DRC bearing the same name on March 1.
A spokesman for the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo told residents to remain calm as the Ugandan troops are working alongside the Congolese military.
